The pre-shot routine, how good is your's?

Pre-shot routines are an excellent way to integrate your focussing skills intoregukar practice or competitions. The pre-shot routine is seen as a fundamental skills in golf and can impact on a player's consistency to their golf.

Below I have listed the 6 steps that help build a pre-shot routine. How many steps do you use? What do each of your steps look like?

1. Planning: Select a visual target and the type of shot you want to hit. Be specific

and commit to the shot.

2. Image: See or feel the type of shot you plan to hit. Make it seem as real as possible.

3. Rehearse: Use a practice swing to feel the shot you want to hit. A key focus on

balance here can be useful.

4. Focus: Stay focussed on execution and the visual, or feel, of the shot.

5. Set-up: Be deliberate in your stance, grip and posture. Take a positive and

decisive approach.

6. Trust: Focus on the target or the ball and let the image of that target, or the

visualised feelings of the good swing, trigger the swing.

With LG Golf Psychology Coaching, part of your process will be to look at your pre-shot routine and analysis how effective it is on your performance. Together, we can personalised this routine and support your preparation for each shot.

This is a great resource to build confidence, create success and increase the enjoyment factor.
